Westonka Whirlers

Everyone including the bears had a “beary” great time at the Westonka Whirlers dance January 17. Join us February 15 for our “plus” dance featuring “snowmen.” The following Sunday, February 22, WW will celebrate “birthdays,” especially George Washington’s!

The bears spent the afternoon on the stage watching the dancers having fun and enjoying Mike’s great choreography and Ray’s cueing.

Caller Mike Driscoll’s attire was “beary” nice! Thanks, Sandy!

Fun, smiles, and laughter filled the Sunday afternoon of dancing in Mound.

First City Squares

January 18, 2015 – First City Squares Dance, Bemidji, Caller Abe Maier. Four squares with dancers from ‘Tasca Twirlers, Single Circles, Pairs & Squares (Fort Francis, Ontario), Friendly Squares, First City Squares, and County Line Squares danced to Abe’s calling.

Country Twirlers

January 16, 2015 – Country Twirlers Dance, Detroit Lakes, Caller Roger McNeil, Cuer Bernadette McNeil. Two squares of club dancers and visitors from three clubs (Friendly Squares, F-M Square Dancers Association, and County Line Squares) had a fun evening dancing to Roger’s calling and Bernadette’s cueing.

Spares & Pairs

January 14, 2015 – Spares and Pairs “Winter Wonderland”

The first “Sharpen Up Your Mainstream Square Dance Skills” brought out many new dancers (some of which stayed for the dance). This will continue from 7:00 – 8:00 Wednesdays until March 25 – $2.00 for the hour, or free if you stay for the dance ($6.00).

Leroy Elfmann, Deb Hollimon, and Don Hanson (officers of SDM) were in attendance. County Line Squares and Bloomington Swirlers both retrieved their banners.

Callers Brian Freed and Mike Driscoll were in attendance. Wayne and Betty Kubicek kept us moving from 7:00 – 8:00 and for the dance as well! Ray Belanger and Robin Fryman cued for the round dancers.

** January 28 will be our “Food Shelf” dance. If you donate $$, please make out the check to V.E.A.P. which serves the South Metro area!**

January 11, 2015 – Thank you to all the brave folks that ventured out on a cold Sunday afternoon to dance to Larry Fruetel’s calling and Ken LaBau’s cueing. There were six and a fourth squares representing seven clubs. Celebrities, SDM Vice Chair Don Hanson and Queen Leslie Knutson from Dakota Grand were in attendance. We were thrilled to have 14 students in attendance and they all seemed to have a good time. Mike Hogan will be calling our February dance, which is “Love Is In The Air.” Pictures will be taken and there will be lots of chocolate treats. Everyone will go home with their “valentine” picture. Please join us for good food, fun, fellowship and dancing!!

January 5, 2015 – The FM Square Dancers’ new mainstream dancers and angels, who were awarded an angel dangle for attending 80 percent of the lessons. Everyone enjoyed cake after the graduation ceremony and the dance.
